What to expect at your physical therapy evaluation (1st visit)

At your first physical therapy visit, you will be asked to explain your goals that you would like to be achieved. Goals that you have might include reducing pain, improving your mobility, or learning about exercise to promote longevity and sustain quality of life. After discussion, you will be provided a physical therapy examination which may include an assessment of your movement, strength, joint mobility, soft tissue quality, posture, endurance, behaviors, and beliefs regarding exercise and your abilities. A thorough examination of both your physical, behavioral, and psychological qualities will provide the best opportunity to understand what strategies can help best with recovery and performance. Following your evaluation, you will also be instructed in exercise and strategies that will help target identified areas for improvements in order to meet your physical therapy goals.Evaluations often will take 45-60 minutes. Please be advised that if you have Medicare as health insurance, you must have a prescription from a medical doctor in order to be evaluated. Evaluations may be conducted in-person or through telehealth. Please contact me at jeff.paskewitz@jpptfitness.com or call at 609-751-1807 to set up an appointment today.
